Thomas grew up in the rural Black Forest Region of Southern Germany where he first picked up a camera in his teenage years.
While working on a degree in social work he took Photography workshops in Austria and Germany, as he got more involved in Photography he moved to San Francisco to attend the San Francisco Art Institute.
At the Art Institute he started using large format cameras focusing on the American Landscape and suburban scenes, that he found quite different from his homeland. After graduating with an MFA, he stayed with the large format Camera, mostly a panoramic 6 X 17.
While transitioning to Digital Photography, Thomas continues with the Panoramic, describing his architectural sense of space, within the place.
His work is in private collections and has been exhibited in Germany and the US.
