Cyanotype on Rives BFK
15" x 15" unframed; sold framed & matted
The cyanotypes combine a spontaneous, yet highly process oriented style of printmaking with one of the oldest alternative photographic processes. The work seeks to break down common methods the viewer uses to categorize images and is influenced by decisions that are subconscious, intuitive, and associative in approach.
The blueprints are provocative in their rejection of the closed form. The use of multiple layered exposure, and divergent imagery speaks to the transient and subjective nature of both time and memory. The blueprints obscure the individual images and the boundaries of artistic mediums, and in doing so, ask the viewer to suspend the need to label and compartmentalize the image and the process of creating.
