“In Plain Sight" is a collection of found still-lifes; a discovery of a moment, a spontaneous formation, a gesture happened upon while wandering urban streets. Employing formal compositions to celebrate the aesthetic qualities of my explorations, I seek the tension between the grotesque and the beautiful, between the subject and the treatment. These simultaneously alluring and abject items serve as an intriguing archive of our daily routines.
Inspired by Wabi Sabi, a philosophy and aesthetic that stems from Japanese Buddhism, I utilize marks as individual narratives that are intimate yet revealing, unique and historical. By transforming the mundane into the sublime, I make visible that which we take for granted.
