This latest series from Katie represents the unconstrained expression of the interior mind. Her characteristic loose brushstrokes are uninhibited and spontaneous. Swaths of color merge, and are broken up by lines and marks, representing the complexity of the self. With the overlapping of marks, and the opacity and translucency of the paint, we are privy to the artist’s process of building layer upon layer in both an additive and subtractive way. Each visual element represents facets of personality in a deeply personal, intimate expression of the artist’s subconscious.
