ODDMENT: AVAILABLE FRACTIONS
Transparent orange and transparent rose gold acrylic sheets with spray paint, paper bags, twine, fencing staples.
17" x 17" x 0.5" unframed
During COVID-19 closures, with no access to the maker space where I use a laser cutter, I began working the acrylic sheet with hand tools and using materials left over from previous projects. I made a few pieces that combine acrylic sheet scraps with paper gift bags. These small pieces still depend on numerical values to determine their formal structure, placement of line, shape, and color relationships. Oddment: Available Fractions came to be because I wanted to use the small bag with stripes, which was soon joined with the brown bag. These were paired with two colored scraps of acrylic. As I was moving the four components around, I began to see fraction, so I pushed this concept.
