ODDMENT: CRADLED WITH SHEAVES
4.7mm ivory acrylic felt, transparent blue acrylic sheet with spray paint, twine, woven cord, and worsted cotton yarn.
15.5" x 25.5" x 3.5" unframed
During COVID-19 closures, with no access to the maker space where I use a laser cutter, I began working the acrylic sheet with hand tools and using materials left over from previous projects. I began exploring different relationships between some of my larger acrylic sheet leftovers and industrial felt. These pieces still depend on numerical values to determine their formal structure, placement of line, shape, and color relationships. Oddment: Cradled with Sheaves was inspired by the small blue acrylic scrap. It utilizes the sheaf stitch, back stitch, and straight stitch. Formal decisions are based on 593814657412, a sequence from pi.
