Yagasuri is based on the traditional Japanese pattern of the same name, symbolising arrows. I pair it in this painting with another tradition Japanese pattern, Shippō or Seven Treasures. Combining neon pink with darker, more subdued colors, I seek to create a dynamic unified whole.


The sides of this piece are birchwood that's been sanded and finished, so the piece can be hung without a frame.
