Here & There is a meditative painting with layers of atmospheric color fields and symbolic circles and patterns. It brings near and distant perspectives into conversation and, like so many of my works, grapples with the paradox of the human condition. We must live in present time to function in society, yet under persistent pressure to plan the future and have a vision. A tension that can be challenging to balance and also a source of hope and joy.


In a 2018 exhibition, this piece was described as mysterious with echoes of Chinese landscape painting (DeWitt Cheng).
