I've always loved drawing animals, ever since I was a child, and the series "Menagerie" is a reflection of that. A friend had recently acquired some finches and had sent me photos; I wanted to capture them but not in a conventional style. I depict the animals with black lines on top of a delicately colorful abstract background.
