"SONATA Glory to Gold / Blackness 3.0 / Available Light" is a large meditation on the challenges of our times. A reflection on the materiality of our place in time, the elemental changes of the moment, the temporal darkness of spirit which does not snuff out hope. I created a rich, suffused ground of atmospheric colors. Stretched over the main ground are bands of pure gold on canvas, Black 3.0 which is the most light absorbent (and therefore the darkest) black pigment ever created, and a simple band of plain empty canvas, representing future possibilities.
