Gestures Into Objects Series


Acrylic, oil, paper, needlepoint and resin on canvas

The Gesture into Objects series was derived from organic or graphic shapes created with my hand-made needlepoint. Once that happened I wanted to turn the shapes into forms. In order to do that, I sewed the pieces onto a foam armature. The needlepoint gestures went from 2D to 3D, therefore objects and not just gestures. The physicality of this process called for sewing the objects onto the paintings.
