The Menorca Series

My inspiration for The Menorca Series is derived from a trip I took the island of Menorca, one of Spain's Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Each painting in this 8 part series is named after a town I visited while there. Some of my hand-made needlepoints that are sewn or sutured into the canvasses were created while I was there. The paintings were all done in my studio and are memories that recall the white wash of the buildings, the cobblestone streets, the blue of the water, and the man-made walls made from the quarries on the island that traverse the entire island. Nothing is meant for literal interpretation as I want the viewer to derive their own meanings from travels of memories.
