COSMOS, MAGENTA AND ORANGE
Soft pastel and acrylic gouache on stretched paper
32" x 20" x 1.75" unframed
I started to receive and use photos of flowers sent to me by friends, usually accompanied by text (“these cosmos reminded me of you, they come in magenta and orange and are tall and wiry”). There is a performative element in my practice, translating the correspondence between my friends and I have through flowers, of crafting a language layered of longings, proximities, and temporalities. Elements of the correspondence inform elements of the compositions/deconstruction of the image.
