Vintage watch parts hand-stitched onto fabric remnant

For this piece, I embroidered vintage watch parts onto fabric. Mechanical watch parts are exquisitely tooled to create a remarkably sophisticated machine. When the light catches them, they sparkle like jewels. When sewn onto fabric, they remind me of calligraphy or hieroglyphics. I also love working with watch parts because they provide such a beautiful metaphor for so many aspects of life.


This mini-quilt is in a purple-heart wood floating frame with conservation glass.
