I have done several pieces where I use the “masthead” or logo of a vintage magazine or product, and then incorporate a vintage, neon letter to create the illusion of three-dimensional tubing popping off the print. The bi-weekly LOOK Magazine (published from 1937 to 1971) is a favorite of mine, as it emphasized photographs more than articles. I could spend all day looking through the back issues from the 50s and 60s. From a few feet away, most people think that there is actual glass neon protruding from the piece.
