This is actually one of my favorite pieces I've done. As with all my figurative work I strive to combine classical realism with expressive painting, and with this piece I feel my approach brought out the subtlety of the pose. The model, who is a dancer, was turning slowly but the turn began with her hand. I wanted to capture how the grace of the hand led her body into a twisting motion.
