MOLECULES OF URBAN DESIGN REVISITED #4

Works on Paper Series
Acrylic, charcoal, wool yarn on paper
30" x 22" unframed
I think of this series as exploratory sketches. Sewing yarn into the paper creates another dynamic sense of line. Grounded in an intuitive, meditative process, my drawing seeks to explore the matter and energy that make up form. The energy is defined through shapes, patterns and the space they inhabit. Sensitive to the stunning urban origami of my urban surrounds in Chicago, the geometric patterns in the work have become, at once metaphors for both science particles and the architectural spaces we create and inhabit. The scintillating patterns of the waters of the Chicago river reflected in the geometric, glass high-rise building never fail to resonate so deeply, I get goose-bumps as I sense the esoteric connection between all things.
