#143 is situated in a larger body of work, where I am dealing with principles of Op Art and patternless patterns. My paintings usually rely on dense layered patterns and optical color combinations. Over the years, the shapes that occur in the triangular grid have organically and intuitively evolved. This piece is from a series of 4 paintings, where I decided to pare down my practice, isolate the formal elements, and work with the panel’s exposed wood grain.
