URBAN PLAINS #8
Acrylic, oil, spray on canvas
30" x 30" (unframed)
My paintings superimposed expressions of emotion through line, gesture, color and transparencies. I create and build the work, bringing spontaneity and the foundation of technique; there is the need to connect moving in and out of the work creating an unfolding driving force moment to moment and reflection. I choose to embody what I call imagined irregularities created in my art without imposing myself upon the materials.
This process propels a curiosity in me to consider beyond what is in front of me. There are confident decisions and ambivalent ones that present themselves through working concepts and materials. My decision not to judge the work feels closer to an honesty that is a challenge in myself.
