Acrylic on canvas
10" x 12.5" x 3" unframed
In my work I make molds of waste and surface conditions of the build environment. I cast them in acrylic paint, and utilize them, inventing visual structures through painting, and sculpture. The objects and surfaces become tools, abstract elements and inspiration as I create the work. I’m naming this series Dissociation, which when speaking about the mind is the disconnection or separation of parts which would normally be working together. I also see the device of dissociation as an ability to separate channels in one’s mind. In my work I seek the feeling of a shifting reality, of an unmade, de-contextualized gathering of matter which I have orchestrated to my liking.
