I think these whippets are beautiful creatures when they run, and they evidently love to do so, but it is profoundly sad to me that in fact the race is run on our terms, a matter of profit or loss, and another example of how we manipulate the world to our own ends.


I painted these canvases during a period when I was feeling pretty stuck in my day job, so I’m sure this has some bearing on the subject matter.
