I remember years ago standing before paintings by Van Gogh, Monet and Renoir at the Chicago Art Institute. It was exhilarating and I was hooked. This led to fine art classes at Indiana University and Herron Art School in Indianapolis. I was off and running and have been working it ever since. Subjects I deal with include urban scenes, landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and non-representational. Media includes oil, oil stick, pastel, pen ink , photography and collage.
My working process mostly starts with visual observation(s). A wonderful moment that really grabs me. From there the drawing begins as a sort of brailling into an image, searching for a sweet spot, working until the image has a certain presence.
