Living in the largest city in the United States, it’s no wonder Hannah Brenner-Leonard has buildings on the brain. Surrounded by skyscrapers, and all the inscrutable domestic mystery they contain, she set out to create art utilizing the traditional square and triangle icon, which designates home all over the world. These factors, combined with an already-acute interest in the concept of dwelling, have resulted in a body of work focused on houses as a recurrent symbol, used to evoke places both real and imagined.
Prior to beginning her art practice, Hannah received her MS in Education and BFA in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute. When she’s not in the studio you can find her baking bread, sewing and exploring museums.
