My resurgence in painting and printmaking began after years of crafting light fixtures in glass and metal. My design illustration skill was the primary reason my creations were was chosen and produced, so moving from the line and form of craft to two dimensional drawing and mixed media has felt natural. Making fluid and fiery marks, sometimes using nature as a guidepost, has been my path to create an abstract emotional expression. Layered drawing, erased and exposed, depicts movement. As T.S Eliot wrote, ”an artist’s mind is a kind of test chamber, a receptacle for seizing and storying up numerous feelings, phrases, images which remain there until the pieces unite to form a new existence.” I strive for a new existence.
