Anna lives in Oakland, CA. Growing up in Massachusetts, she received a BFA in photography from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011. Anna has been part of the San Francisco Artists Studios since 2017 after a month-long residency with One Plus One Plus Two Collective.
Although she considers herself an interdisciplinary artist, most of Anna’s work is rooted in photography in some way. In recent work, she contemplates reflection and introspection. She looks for ways to highlight emotions and the invisible by creating alternative landscapes to escape into within the familiarity of her home. Using light and reflective materials, Anna mimics landscapes, and hopes to conjure emotions felt when immersed in nature. She contemplates the human impact on the land and the resilience and power of nature.
Anna has recently shown with Incline Gallery, SF Camerawork and Six Feet Photography. Community and collaboration are an important part of her art practice. When she's not in the studio Anna can be found hiking in the Oakland Hills, exploring nature and jumping into any cool body of water.
